Market introduction

BMW unveiled the 8-Series Coupe at Le Mans 24 hours in 2019 and launched the car in India on May 8, 2020.

Variants

It is offered in India in the 840i MSport guise.

Engine and specification 

It is powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine that produces 335bhp/500Nm and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior 

The new 8 series as a part of the latest BMW design langauge gets sleek headlamps and taillamps complementing the muscular styling. In profile you can see its low and long stance while at the rear the tail lamps sit prominently on the edges. The Coupe measures 4,851mm in length while the Gran Coupe is longer by almost 230mm longer sitting at 5,032mm.

Interior and features

The cabin looks familiar in a typical BMW fashion. So you get all-digital instrument console, 10.25-inch infotainment system, heads-up-display, M-Sport seats, choice of leather upholstery, and the newly-designed glass gear-selector. Both the Coupe and GC come with 420 litres of boot space with 40:20:40 split rear seats. 

Safety

All versions of the 8 Series in India get eight airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control programme and BMWs active and passive safety features.

The BMW 8 Series can be had in 8 different colours.

Seating capacity

It can seat five persons.

Rivals

It rivals the Porsche Panamera, Audi RS7 and Bentley Continental GT.
